things you should know about your skates

email our skate technician at sk8@cvrr.com; answers to the most popular questions will be posted below

always buy bearings with a rating of at least an ABEC1; the higher the ABEC rating the faster the bearings are capable of going without overheating

for indoor skating an ABEC3 bearing is good, but be sure it is re-packable; many manufacturers seal their bearings on both sides making them virtually disposable

always buy urethane wheels; some cheaper companies make plastic wheels that look the same, but they chip, dent, and slip indoors

the higher the durometer of a wheel, the harder the wheel; softer wheels are more comfortable outdoors but slower indoors; harder wheels are much faster indoors
